Biden Appoints N.C. A&T Alumni to President’s Board of Advisors on HBCUs

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (April 5, 2022) – President Biden has declared his intent to appoint 18 capable and varied leaders – which includes North Carolina Agricultural and Complex State College alumni Willie A. Deese ‘77 and Janeen Uzzell ‘90 – to the President’s Board of Advisors on Historically Black Faculties and Universities (HBCUs).

Willie A. DeeseDeese is a retired pharmaceutical government and corporate board member whose job spans 5 many years. He most not long ago served as executive vice president of producing at Merck and Co. Two other President’s Board of Advisors on HBCUs appointees – Taraji P. Henson and Chris Paul – also have ties to A&T.

Taraji P. HensonHenson, who attended A&T, is an Academy Award-nominated and SAG and Golden Globe-successful actor, filmmaker, and activist. She released TPH Leisure with upcoming jobs including “Two-Faced” with Bron Amusement, which will mark her feature film directorial debut, Alessandro Camon’s “Time By yourself,” which Henson will also star in, and “Sorcerority,” which she will co-make with Game Changer Movies and Gabrielle Union’s I’ll Have One more Productions.

In October 2016, Henson introduced her New York Times bestselling novel “Around The Way Female.” She also introduced the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation in 2018 in memory of her father to offer scholarships to African-American students majoring in mental wellness, offer psychological well being providers to youth in city schools, and operate to reduce the recidivism premiums of African-American adult men and women of all ages. Henson recently co-hosted the Fb Watch collection on psychological overall health, “Peace of Thoughts with Taraji,” for which she acquired a Daytime Emmy Award nomination.
